A 1946-47 German film made after World War II, the first of its kind. The titles are in Georgian, Armenian and Russian, and says “They Will Not Get Away,” with a subtitle of “Murderers Among Us”. This movie was shot on the ruins of Berlin by the German Democratic Republic, the first attempt to come to terms with what happened to the Germans as a nation after the war. It is a story about a German woman returning from a concentration camp to find that her apartment is occupied by a stranger, who happens to be former concentration camp staff members. It explores the problem of collective guilt and responsibility which was shown to be shared by some and not others.
